Defending Sex Crimes in the Age of #MeToo
The Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers invites members of the criminal defense bar to:
Earn 6 CLE credits, approved by both the Board of Bar Overseers and the Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services, from renowned local and national speakers on a variety of sex crime-related topics, including trial preparation, human trafficking, child sex abuse, polygraph use, investigations, client-centered practice and how the #MeToo movement is transforming the defense of people charged with sex crimes.
Presenters include: Drew Findling, renowned Atlanta criminal defense attorney and President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Donna Brown and Robin Melone, former New Hampshire public defenders with decades of trial experience between them; Stephen J. Schwartz, MACDL's first president and Portland criminal defense and civil attorney; Jeremy Pratt, a criminal defense and appellate attorney from Camden; Steve Smith, Augusta criminal defense attorney who has focused on sex crimes for his career; Sarah Branch, a Portland-based criminal defense attorney who specializes in representing vulnerable people; Bre Kidman, a Portland-based criminal defense attorney with extensive experience in sex trafficking and sex work policy; and Daniella Cameron, Senior Director of Preble Street Teen and Anti-Trafficking Services.
